Interesting. I always figured the typical family size would be at least four. Mom, Dad, two kids. Maybe a third kid if the first two were the same gender. My wife comes from a family with 9 kids, but it was a His, Hers, and Theirs situation. My parents had six kids.
My wife and I, have four kids, two girls, two boys in that order. The Navy always told me my family of six was TOO BIG, thus I was limited to stateside duty.
I'm thinking another issue in today's society, professional couples prolong having children but justify the family by having a couple of "fur babies". Daycare is not required, and fur babies are content just laying around the house all day while the professionals are "bringing home the bacon, and frying it up in pan." :)
