Progressive stupidity!!! Just like the carbon taxes in California ,Canada and the European Union, the soda tax is based on fake science with a political agenda. Thank God we don't have this in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I drink up to one Litre of dr. Pepper everyday. I'm 55 years old and I walk about 25,000 steps a day. I'm 5 foot 11 and I weigh 180 lb.
Stupid politicians from the progressive left are blaming the kids drinking sugary drinks as an excuse for this effed-up tax. Just like with cars, natural gas and now sodas, we shouldn't have to pay more to save the Earth or to save the overweight kids who play too much on video games instead of getting exercise. That should not be a leftist progressive agenda to punish everybody for the sake of the small group of overweight kids who may be genetically predisposed to this. Thank goodness it is already failed miserably in Progressive and gun violence and gun control Chicago.
Why should 95% of the people or even 98% of the people be taxed for the sake of the 2%? I bet you the politicians who voted for this are overweight, smokers and drinkers. I bet you that they are hypocrites and they themselves should go to the gym and get off their smartphone. Maybe they won't get diabetes if they exercise. Why should you make your city suffer. You only look at it as an excuse to make money and you hide behind the false model or fake flag of saving the obese kids who just need to do exercise on their own instead of playing Roblox or Little Big Planet.

One of the many stupid things about liberals regarding taxes is that, in situations like this, they want to use the tax to suppress behavior they deem bad for whatever reason, but then they plan their budgets as if their tax will have no effect on the public's behavior at all. In other words, they want people to cut down on drinking sodas, but they still want the income from people buying the same amount of sodas as before the tax. And then they're shocked, SHOCKED I say, that they aren't getting as much money from taxes as they thought they were going to get.

SSgt Christopher Brose - I drink lemonade made with honey. Not because I have a problem with sugar. I started raising bees about 10 years ago, I have honey coming out my ears. I tried making mead but decided I like a sharp stick in the eye better.

It would seem to me those do-gooders are committing some type of fraud with their so-called penalty tax on the sugar content. With how they describe it. If they are doing it
To keep people healthy it should go to fight diabetes or running a fat-loss camp for the local over-weights..but just too add to the local general fund isn’t right. It needs to be specifically ear-marked.

I don't drink soda. The carbonation started hurting my face after I had surgery on my sinuses. So it's a double shoulder shrug from me.

SSG Jessica Bautista - There was a famous baseball player nicknamed Catfish Hunter. I never had a clue why.. I’ve caught quite a few catfish myself. I never did what they call “Noodling” which is sticking your hand into the water and pulling them out by hand. You mentioned your teeth... here’s a picture of a Catfish. Three years ago I immediately understood where the nickname catfish came from.

Jessica, I'm hoping you was a Democrat, would be upset that someone would want to tax any drink that has sugar. You are a service number that is in shape so I'm sure you feel the same way that you don't think that you should be paying the burden for others who are either fat because they're severely obese and there's nothing they can do about it or that it should be their responsibility to make them exercise instead of blaming you the consumer and charging everybody the sugar tax which won't be used to help kids but will be used to pay for everything else. The same thing happened with the tobacco settlement 30 years ago. The money wasn't used to go help smokers the money to spend on everything else. That's what gets me mad. I'm a guy that gets between 295 and 300 on his APFT through most of my military life and I should not have to pay for this! I meet height and weight as well! This is what gets me really mad because Democrats and liberals in both the Canada the United States want to charge taxes on me and try to change my behavior when it won't change my behavior!
