“Platoon” for me was the closest to my experiences, not the smoking dope or the homicidal NCO,but the night ambush scene and first hump through the jungle as a FNG does bring back memories Oh Yeah, Welcome Home Brothers

I am just a hair to young for Vietnam, didn't turn 18 until Sept.1973, but a lot of the older guys I ran with served. I heard the speech that Bunny gave about liking it there from my running buddy Bob almost word for word. By the time Platoon came out, I had lost contact with Bob, but I always wanted to ask him if he knew Oliver Stone.

CPT Lawrence Cable,Sir,I really can’t remember that scene in Platoon with Bunny,I can however say I felt that sense of abandonment once I was on the chopper leaving the boonies and my Brothers, long story short our sister company had just ran into an NVA main force days before, and we had flown out to reinforce,I had a early out to DEROS since the Army needed instructors back in the States,a strange feeling indeed knowing I was out of danger, but still feeling I should have stayed,Welcome Home Brothers.

Bunny has a "Bad Feeling" Platoon Clip
This is probably my favorite scene in the movie Platoon (1986) written and directed by Oliver Stone.
SGT Philip Roncari - This is the scene I'm talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K32QXUo4T6Y

What? Deer Hunter and First Blood on the List? I've heard a lot Vietnam era vets be highly critical of both movies. As far as I can find, all of Deer Hunter was fabricated by a non-veteran writer. First Blood doesn't even follow the novel.
The rest of them I would buy.
