Why is such a law even needed? We are a nation of laws. We the People elect representatives to enact them. If they are dumb enough to enact some provision from Sharia Law it will be voided if it is unconstitutional. If it is constitutional, then We the People will have to suffer with such laws until we can vote out the idiots who enacted them. But Sharia is not law, not in the sense that they have any legal force here. They are not binding on Americans who do not submit voluntarily to them. So, again I ask: Why is such a law even needed?

If you think about it, it's not so political. Wasn't it just recently that some doctors up North got busted for female genital mutilation under Sharia Law? Problem is, this will be taken to court. Reason being, it could be in violation of 1A.
For instance, in California about 10 years ago, some people were arrested for animal cruelty for sacrificing live chickens in a ceremony to fight ailments. They were released and sued the city for religious discrimination. I'm for blocking any kind of Sharia Law but if the cards are played right, Muslims could say this violates their 1A.

TSgt (Join to see) - The impetus for this Law came from the sharia acts in Houston (father murdered daughter for non-moslem BF) and a number that occurred in Irving and Richardson (other acts of violence towards a family member for sharia reasons. In Irving, the moslems tried to install a sharia court. Richardson, of course, being ground zero for the Palestinian terrorist organization, holy land foundation. Then we can't forget the sharia law based islamic attack on my Hometown of Garland.
