SGM Marquez- This is one guy and he is not alone in his thoughts about the military. I could go on an extended rant about one side of the political spectrum and their disdain for the military but I will not. So- here is what I would have proposed. A Veteran in the area take the councilman/teacher to a military base. (Video this entire operation). Introduce him to the Education Center. Show him around the base where military members are taking college classes. Then take him to a DFAC and let him have lunch with military members that have benefited from the college programs afforded to them by their service. Have the military members discuss their educational goals. We all know this guy is ignorant. So turn the tables. Educate him on the benefits of service and we might just win some hearts and minds over.

LTC (Join to see) I'd give him a little education, perhaps on a FOB in Afghanistan and see what he learns from that about our military.

MSgt Kurt S. - I understand that but his type wants an over reaction so that they then can say, see we were right, the military is full of thugs. We will not win this guy over but we can show what an utter fool he is while spot lighting the intellect of the military.

LTC (Join to see) - Excellent suggestion, and you're showing a lot more compassion and patience than I would have. I have to agree with the Sar' Major, though, Colonel. The guy's a bigot, plain and simple, and it's a rare one of those that'll change their tune. That said, I'm keenly (as would be many, I'm sure) interested in how it turns out. Maybe I'm wrong. Let us know how it goes, SGM? SGM Erik Marquez

SGM Erik Marquez - update: I saw on Fox that General Perkins invited the teacher/councilman to visit military installations and see exactly what service members do on a daily basis.

He can not be "fired" from the city council, He has refused to resign as the community has demanded he do (this is different then SJW "demanding" something from a person of group they did not put in position)
And a recall campaign has been started and papers officially filed to both the city and state
"On March 22, 2018 the required petition was submitted to the City Clerk for approval. The Clerk has (10) days to approve or respond requesting any corrections.

Once the approval of Petition is certified by the City Clerk, The Committee will have 120 days to collect approximately 6,600 signatures of registered voters to Recall Councilman Salcido."

Some follow up The city council held a closed meeting 9 March
CLOSED SESSION:
a. PUBLIC EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE/DISMISSAL/RELEASE Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 One item
The special meeting was called by Mayor Pro Tem Tercero, Councilmembers Armenta and Salcido

However it seems the Council did not do the right thing and send him packing.
As of 28 March, he is still listed as a council member http://www.pico-rivera.org/depts/council/default.asp
