I don't believe the A-10 has a problem landing or taking off from a dirt strip. While the Su-25 has some advantages when it comes to Air to Air combat, that isn't the purpose of the A-10. It's job is to fly very low and very slow, assisting troops on the ground, and it is one of very few planes (not sure if there are any others) designed solely for that purpose.

The Air Force should have designed a more modern version of the A-10 a long time ago, however they seem to be under the impression that wars are won solely by traditional air power, not by supporting troops on the ground.

Mark I think that whoever bought out Fairchild should upgrade the A-10 make it more like the Su- 25 so it can maneuver better and still if need be go Mach 1 when empty. Good thing is finally the Air Force got their head out of their fifth point of contact and now they're going to be saying that the A-10 Warthog is an inventory indefinitely kind of like the Stratofortress. I was saying that since Germany got a hold of some MIG- 29 from merging with East Germany maybe there's some su-25 in the former Eastern Bloc countries that are now part of NATO and we could use them too against the Russians in the future if they so choose to invade the baltics.

I'll go with the A-10 however I think I might have an Su-25 parked next to it in the hangar......! It is kind of nice looking, the Su-25.
