They don't have anything resembling the laws talked about in the videos. In fact I just looked chicago gun laws up and they're not as restrictive as the right probably wants us to believe.

You guys REALLY love to cite Chicago but they don't have "so many gun restrictions" and "so many shootings." You guys need a new narrative Jack.

"Chicago’s gun laws are among the most restrictive in the United States, although some have loosened as they’ve been overturned in the past decade. And while the city is frequently used as an example of why such regulations don’t work, the truth is far murkier."
"Eight years ago, Illinois became the last state to allow concealed carry, while other laws were loosened in years prior. In 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a 1982 ban on handguns in Illinois, and three years later, Chicago ended its gun registry. In 2014, a judge overturned Chicago’s ban on gun shops.
In its 2021 annual report on state gun laws, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence gave Illinois an A-, making it eighth in the nation for the strength of its gun laws. California, New York, Connecticut and New Jersey were among states that ranked higher."

Are Chicago’s gun laws the strictest in the United States? Not anymore.
While Chicago is frequently used as an example of why such regulations don’t work, the truth is far murkier.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - No, Chicago is not the most restrictive nor does it suffer the highest murder rate. It is just one of many American cities that focus on gun control in a vain attempt to reduce violent crime and deaths. Must I then cite all of them? Would that make you happier? Now, if you want to criticize the article that inspired this discussion thread, why don't you look rather at the differences between Switzerland and the US that might better explain the differences in outcomes. Switzerland, for example, doesn't have to contend with the same population densities that are found in major US urban areas. Yes, we could have a wonderful discussion on this subject, but who cares? We're too busy shouting at one another, divided by our ideologies.

The far right still likes to bring up Chicago which is ranked #28 in gun violence. St. Louis is #1.

That's one of the difference between them and us, their people have a respect for weapons, and those that are shooting people for no apparent reason, have no respect for human life, nor weapons, sister SFC Kelly Fuerhoff
