Marcus I'm going to disagree with your comment. There are 2 different standards to the "Working" class of people where I live. There are those that have managed to get on at one of the Multinational manufacturing facilities that have unions, and those who work for local nonunion manufacturers, that wish they could get in to a Union shop. The union members, by far have the better quality of life, and the owners are paying their shareholders dividends every quarter. Then there are the local nonunion workers that have to depend on Social programs(tax dollars) to make ends meet, and can only dream of being able to retire, and the only person with any money is the business owner. Unions are very much relevant in society at this time.

Hey Rick, I have been a part of both side of the argument. As a machinist, I saw the itemizing of jobs that negated all logic. I couldn't run my CNC because a light bulb burned out and only a union electrician could change it. Two hours of production not done.
As a teacher, I found that a lawyer could provide the same protection although, I never had to use one and didn't want to be anywhere I wasn't regarded as an asset to education.
I remember the time when unions were needed. I just don't see it now.

CMSgt Marcus Falleaf - Sounds like the difference between Right to work, Vs. You will pay dues situations. I was the maintenance guy, for 30 years. The only time I would blow off a call is because if I didn't get what I was working on fixed 1st, your machine wouldn't be running anyway. Getting supervisors to understand that was always difficult. They didn't understand how the "Flow" worked, only the machines in their one section of the process. That's not a Union problem. It's a management problem.

PV2 Scott Mollette - I was URW in the 70's, AD during the 80's, USW after URW got busted in the 90's. I've always been the maintenance guy. Like I said to Marcus Supervisors aren't a problem with the Union.
