Is the climate changing affecting this sugar prices? Yep, along with a host of other reasons.
This is nothing new to the sugar market - I remembered the huge hit on sugar what was going on in the mid-70s to the point that they had hearings about it to see if "Big Sugar" was price fixing, if there were problems in the US that were contributing, etc. There was another 'huge spike' in 1980 and the 'sugar troubles' of 2010-2011.
