Study: Increasing minimum wage does not reduce jobs

Most of the "economy will collapse if you force businesses to treat their employees better" stuff is just fear mongering anyway, but we are repeatedly seeing hard evidence that backs that up. The ultra-rich in this country have convinced many of the impoverished that helping them out would upset some delicate balance that will lead to the end of life as we know it. Hopefully we can get past that and rebuild and grow a more equitable society. Give the lower economic classes more equitable pay and they will use it in the economy, making it stronger. Give more money to rich people and they sock it away in things that don't drive the economy nearly as much.
