Judging by his comments in 2016, Stokes is a typical politician - likes to hear himself talk and ends up saying things that come back to haunt him. Such is the case here. This from 2016: "Stokes suggested in 2016 that residents throw rocks, bottles and bricks at officers from other metro law enforcement agencies that chase suspects into the city of Jackson." That obviously riled the LEOs in the jurisdictions that surround Jackson including the Rankin County Sheriff who commented on Stokes' incitement to violence at the time. Thus the Rankin Deputy Sheriff's post that said "“If the thugs weren't encouraged to throw rocks, bottles and sticks, maybe they would not have felt so comfortable in attempting to assassinate an officer simply because of the job he does” struck a sour note with Stokes and he responded with a personal attack. IMV, Stokes would better serve his electorate if he worked more and talked less. An ad hominem directed from one public official at another serves nobody well.

It's just another instance of a dem politician stoking up violence against alleged oppression.
