Star Trek, honestly, is one of the reasons I'm in the Navy. Sounds weird. But it, and an older acquaintance doing SSBNs, made me want to do submarine warfare. Horatio Hornblower in space, from 6th grade on. Original and TNG, loved and (most of them) treasure. Enterprise, surprisingly, I enjoyed binge-watching. Few DS9 and VGR for me, but here and there.
Abramsverse? No. STD? Heck naw.
Which makes me sad for Star Trek Picard.
I recall the story of a journalist who, at the beginning of TNG, asked Gene Roddenberry about having a bald captain (Patrick Stewart). "Wouldn't they have cured baldness by the 24th century?" And Roddenberry hit back, "By the 24th Century, no one would care." Translation? I don't care if you're a bi-trans-leftist minority, or a backwards southern doctor from Tennessee (waiting for people to call McCoy racist); how you do your job is more important. I don't care about your woke-ness or identity or physical aspects or even political leanings. Don't let it interfere with your job of exploring the galaxy.
And honestly, for the most part, that's a life-lesson from Trek that seems to have become engrained into the 6th grade me that has stayed with me.
So, STP? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm……...sad to hear this news.

All these problems could be avoided if creativity would again be embraced in Hollywood and the bean counters be relegated to counting beans instead of making creative decisions. They have destroyed the Star Wars franchise just as they are now destroying the Star Trek franchise. Indeed, I wish they would destroy the who concept of franchises and give us new heroes and new stories to enjoy...
