Pilots simply thrive on aviation stories like this. Even the Cessna Pilot with the quavery voice could proudly file this incident in his repertoire. The only thing a “chopper” pilot (or blimp Pilot) might do to draw a contrast might be to “zero out” his airspeed/groundspeed - perhaps even have a “negative” groundspeed. :)

It actually wasn't the pilot, it was his backseater. I was surfing youtube this weekend and watched/listened to his story about this. I clipped it at the start of this particular story, but the whole video about his career was interesting.
