Ishi (c. 1861 – March 25, 1916) was the last member of the Yahi, a group of the Yana of the U.S. state of California. Widely acclaimed in his time as the "last wild Indian" in America, Ishi lived most of his life completely outside modern culture. At 50 years of age, in 1911, he emerged near the present-day foothills of Lassen Peak, also known as Wa ganu p'a.

Very interesting.
The only thing I feel would be objectionable, especially Native Americans, is calling/labeling "Ishi" as "The Last Wild Indian". Should be more like "Not Assimilated" than "Wild".

02.05.96 - Ishi apparently wasn't the last Yahi, according to new evidence from UC Berkeley...
Berkeley -- Ishi is a household name in Northern California, where school children have been taught for 85 years that he was the last Yahi, a subgroup of the Yana Indians.
