Nikita Khrushchev was one of dictator Joseph Stalin's commissar liaisons between Stalin and his Generals that defended Stalingrad in World War 2.
Later, after Stalin passed away in 1953, he became Soviet Premier and he got really upset because he couldn't go to Disneyland. The final straw was when CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers got shot down in his U-2 spy plane over Russia.
He was also responsible for approving missiles being set up in Cuba leading the Cuban Missile Crisis in October of 1962.
I was born in the final week of October of 1962 and that's why I always interested me since missiles from Cuba could have reached Los Angeles in 10 minutes and I would have been born into or died in a nuclear Holocaust.
We are in a similar situation today because Russia is threatening the USA and NATO allies. When in a bad peace, prepare for war and don't waste any more money on climate change mitigation.

I lived through that crisis, thinking today is similar makes sense to only those who were too young to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I wasn't born yet but I'm saying it's similar because we are in a cold war that could go hot over ukraine. President Biden is more like Mr Magoo so I don't expect him to take anything seriously since climate change is his biggest threat and not Taiwan being threatened by communist china. You are right, we are not building bomb shelters we are not buying food in the panic. In the days prior to me being born, my parents did a map Recon then drove the route to the hospital in anticipation of me being born. Still our President Biden is the modern day Nero.

You are also right, we didn't have a full mobilization. We didn't have the 82nd Airborne on the tarmac ready to go invade cuba. I remember I had a co-worker at my old job who was on the tarmac waiting to paratroop into Cuba if necessary. We didn't have a blockade and the president didn't go on TV to announce everybody about the quarantine and effect. So my apologies it is not the same but the threat is similar and our president just goes to the basement.
