The word "mansplaining" is a made-up word designed for people using it to artificially claim the moral high ground, from which they can condescend to the people they disagree with. However, using it usually means the person using it has run out of legitimate points to make, so use of it signals a collapse of their argument.

PFC Jim Wheeler - That may all be true and thanks for the input. Causes often skew data to get a better readout for their cause. It happens all the time. I've never researched it past finding a few credible sources but understand fully what you are saying. Thanks again.

CW2 (Join to see) - False equivalence. Having to deal with a minority of false rape reports is not the same as the 1 in 4 women who will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Also paternity leave absolutely should be more of a thing in the military, some companies do offer it. All I can say is the best way to learn something new is to engage with people who are different from you and listen, learn and empathize.

I was going through your links CWO3 (Join to see) and your second one seems to delve into some of the things I was referring to. From the aei report you linked (there is much more, this is just one excerpt) for anyone interested:
There is no gender gap in wages among men and women with similar family roles. Comparing the wage gap between women and men ages 35-43 who have never married and never had a child, we find a small observed gap in favor of women, which becomes insignificant after accounting for differences in skills and job and workplace characteristics.
This observation is an important one because it suggests that the factors underlying the gender gap in pay primarily reflect choices made by men and women given their different societal roles, rather than labor market discrimination against women due to their sex.

Thanks for taking a closer look. I know that we should try to be fair and equal with treatment toward all people. Whether military or civilian any perception of an uneven playing field causes problems with morale and is just morally wrong. The Golden Rule simplifies things there. It's easy to turn a blind eye when it doesn't directly affect us and that makes the problem worse. I realize that many use things to their advantage and that's equally wrong. I've always tried to be fair in dealings with others because it is the right thing to do, but also because it prevents a lot of problems in the long run. You will always have the "opportunists" that try to play the "whatever" card to compensate for their substandard performance or due to a desire to "get over" and that's a larger problem with no easy solution. I noted that AEI appears to be a non-biased 501C3 without political affiliation and that's why I included it. They also noted the hypocrisy of Pres. Obama's claims about wage inequity vs. them doing the same at the WH, which was interesting. One sentence explained the gap down to only about a 10% gap using apples to apples comparison. It may be much less than that or even negligible but does exist in perception to some, if nothing more. There's probably some other "unbiased" source that can frame the data even differently but at least they aren't as blatantly wrong as the more sensationalist type sources or the patently false political claims. Thanks for caring and taking the time to better understand the issue.

He very well may be; I can't help but notice, however, that you make no mention of her literally cutting him off mid-sentence at the beginning of that clip. I'm sure most people would get a little annoyed with someone who interrupts them to ask, or state, something they were literally trying to answer when they were cut off.
I suspect you yourself are not overly pleased when people cut you off in the middle of a sentence, are you?

PFC Jim Wheeler - I feel the best policy when these heated arguments start is to just walk away and drop it. I'm not going to judge either way, because I have to be open to all comments and responses impartially. Everyone on this conversation needs to always be respectful, site their opinion without making a personal attack on any individual or their family. I know that isn't the answer that some are looking for, but I believe in being professional no matter what the issue is. If you can't say something without attacking or being disrespectful, then don't respond or walk away. There have been many times that RP Members and Connections have said something I don't agree with. I take the "High Road" and let it go. That is me and just my suggestion. Have a good day Jim!

SP5 Christine Conley did you watch the clip? She clearly cuts him off mid-sentence while he is trying to answer her questions about his reasoning behind an opinion that he wrote. Most people I have met would be annoyed by that behavior and would almost certainly describe the interrupter as having an "attitude."
