The answer is very very simple. It is not politically correct to bring out that the Christians were killed because they did not convert to Islam. The media does not want to paint the Muslims in a "bad light " and that it does not fit into the medias political agenda.

I don't see why it should be any different, all of those religions have or have had extremists who would commit that sort of atrocity.
Islamic extremism is a serious problem in that part of the world, thankfully we don't usually see that kind of extremism from other religions these days.
