SGT (Join to see) First off, the person proposing this is moron. Shooting sports do not promote violence. They promote education, and SAFETY. New York is setting itself to be a haven for those intent on committing acts of violence. Once they disarm the people, and make them afraid of anything shaped like a gun (they may even stop going to Florida for the winter, too close to gun shaped), those intent on committing an act of violence will have an open season. When it comes to the common sense gun law LIE, I keep going back to that kid who said words to the effect of give us an inch and we will take it all. They want to scream about their rights, with no thought to trampling the rights of others. Where is the ACLU now? They claim to be a civil rights group, and yet when a politician wants to trample our right to own a firearm, they are silent. The author is absolutely right, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

PO3 Steven Sherrill Yeah she's a moron because of her indoctrination, but she's also an elected official trying to get higher in the system to gain more power. My original premise still stands. Get out and vote, or maybe even run.

I think many of us can tell a similar story. When you're young, the things that democrats promise sound all well and good. Then you get a taste of the world and grow up to realize that they're trying to sell a fantasy world.

Interestingly, I think I was immune. I was born in 1961, and my first real political memory was Nixon vs. McGovern. At that time, I was really interested in all things military, and for me that election boiled down to McGovern wanting to cut the military way back, and Nixon not. But the more I paid attention, the more McGovern seemed off on most of the other things he said also. And of course, he lost in the biggest landslide in American history (though he's just barely ahead of Mondale at #2). So I think I always knew Democrats live in a fantasy world. I proudly cast my first vote for Ronald Reagan, and I have voted Republican/conservative ever since.

I was born in 1979. My first memory of politics is the Bush/Dukakis race and that's only because Dukakis had been the governor of MA and that's where I grew up. My family never talked politics or any of that around us. I remember Panama because my Uncle was in the Marines so there was a reason to pay attention. I also remember ODS. I was in the 5th grade for that and I think my Aunt coming home from that and bringing back things for us as well as the welcome home parades for local Guard and Reserve units got me on the path to the military. I didn't REALLY start looking at politics until 07/08 when I joined the Guard and it directly effected me.

My Uncle gave me my first rifle/shotgun in 1959. I was 12 and loved going hunting for pheasants.
I received my second rifle in 1965, a gift from the U.S. Marine Corps! It served me well in Vietnam, and I got upgraded to an M60 with a 1911 sidearm. I had at times carried an M79 grenade launcher.
After being discharged in 1969, I attended college, and after many years, received a BSEE, MSME and a PhD, which required I pay back a student loan and did so without crying.
I now own many pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and knives, yet do not hunt. I like to Target shoot, but with age, my aim is not like it used to be. I now just enjoy going to the range.
To the anti-gun idiots I say; If you think I will surrender any of my weapons, because you believe I should, then I think you should move to another country, because I think you should!
What's fair is fair!
