My question is this. One shares nude pictures of themselves with their boyfriend/girlfriend because that is what they are into. That person posts said pictures because again that is what they are into. Another sailor downloads the pics because he or she likes what they see. The first couple breaks up. Now the pictures are all over social media. Was consent given the first time they were allowed to be posted? They allowed it to be done. Where does the I don't like this anymore and want it to stop consent kick in?

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth Good luck finding a good answer to that one. The answer I would give is Cover Your Own Ass, don't post em online. If one takes the pictures, one should keep them private. If one has an urge to share them online, one should consider the implications of doing so are going to be on them. Fair or not fair.

Digital media makes this way too easy to put things out there. Good ole film didn't allow for this unless you scanned it in...even then it wasn't easy to post anything. Posting it meant you got the film developed, printed copies, and put them on bulletin boards for a caption contest!!! Now people post and put things out there and then realize...OH SNAP...they delete it but it is never really gone.

While I agree anyone involved in retaliation porn as its called, needs to be kicked out and have criminal charges brought, I think there is an over reaching in such a loosely worded reg. By definition you would need a permission slip to share a playboy now.
While I have sympathy for the victims of this, I think they need to accept some responsibility for the situation. .... how to put this... I would coach my junior people on the concept of love and trust. If a Man loves a women he is not going to demand she send him nude photos, he is not going to demand she compromise herself intimately to prove her love. Women any man that does this is not a morally viable partner. I relies the need for acceptance, the need for that connection, but those things should not come with strings. MEN (or boys depending on how you take this) If the women you love or you are with sends you these kinds of images, have the moral fiber to keep them private, they are between you and her and are not for the likes of the kids running around humping everyone's leg. Be better than the teenage mentality that you are surrounded by. We sadly are in a morally bankrupt time, to many people were raised to value nothing and this is one of the results.

CPO (Join to see) It is one of those no win situations that demands a response because it is in the public light, but there really is no good response. Should perpetrators be punished absolutely. Should the pictures be taken in the first place, nope. Is anyone going to convince young people not to take those pictures, nope. So the military is forced with trying to close the barn door after the horse has escaped, and the barn has burned to the ground.

So, is it OK for the females to have their picture taken nude indiscriminately? This happens all the time in civilian life to celebrities as a result of nude or porn style photos, the answer, make sure the cameras are not on when you do private things.

MCPO Roger Collins It is a bad idea all the way around. If one wants to share their nakedness with another, do it in person. Besides it is a lot more fun that way anyway. Social Media is turning our nation into a paint chip eating society of morons, incapable of making common sense choices.

PO1 John Crafton - True, and there is no way that the military is going to convince people not to take the photos. It is a bad situation. Why can't they just trade drawers?

What is interesting to me is that this type of thing has gone on since the military has existed. Our society has coarsening, along with the PC evolution. The major change is technology has also advanced. With all the photo capabilities and ease of transferring such material, this was inevitable.

MCPO Roger Collins - That is true, how many dick picks and the like did a poor photo developer process because someone accidentally left their kodak sitting out back when that was the only way to take pictures. I know I had a nice shot of a nutsack and a full toilet because I left my camera on my bunk. Only made that mistake once.
