I would agree but their has been obstruction from the Republican Party that was unnecessary. I don't like to bring out the racial card but you know and every one else knows that it is true. SFC Tyrone Almendarez - My father had his Navy Career cut in the late 60's because he would have African American Officers over to our house for BBQ's and social events. I have fitness reports where his reporting senior and reviewing office both call him a "N_____ Lover" He never tolerated any type of racial animus from his kids. And I agree that some, even many people who dislike Obama, do so because of his race. There is a significant difference between personal dislike and policy difference. But I disagree that that racial animus drives the opposition to his policies. I am a small government guy. I believe government at the local level is far more accountable to the people and thus more effective than government at the Federal level. I believe social spending forced by the government gives most people an excuse to not take care of their fellow man. On those core beliefs, I can disagree with President Obama on almost every issue.

Your father is a man of honor and for that he is a great man. As for the president don't you find it rather peculiar that since day one he has had obstruction in every which way you can imagine? We have seen other presidents have their share but to the extent of this president? Can you remember Reagan, Bush 1, Bill Clinton, and the last Bush have obstruction the way this president has had? To say that the whole Republican Party is racist would be ludicrous but what conclusion can you up with when its your first day at work and mostly everyone in the Republican Party starts saying no to you. Disrespects you in the State of the Union address? It's a shame to say this but racism is well and alive in 2016. Look at the Front Runner for the GOP. Look at his rallies and his message. I find it rather amusing but at times I find it embarrassing that we haven't educated our citizens about racism.

They took him at his word, and read his book. I do not believe President Obama is a socialist, but I do think he is very much a European style Social Democrat. I don't think he would strongly disagree with that. Many, myself included think that is a discredited political philosophy. Opposition to his policies couldn't start until he advanced policies.

I think a great deal of mistrust and animosity between the parties extends back to the contested first election of President George Bush, the "hanging chad" dust up. And yes, I remember a great deal of opposition from opposing parties to the policies that every president I can remember has put forward.

By no means do I deny the existence of racial bias, and prejudice. I just have never been convinced that it is more than a significant nuisance at the level of presidential politics. Would you grant that on occasion some politicians throw the race card when they know it is not merited.
