Remember when Republicans were pro-choice? Conveniently, neither does Samuel Alito

It is noteworthy that this article is from a British news outlet my liberal brother-in-Christ PO1 William "Chip" Nagel.
[Update] Since a couple have focused on the UK definition [since I am British heritage child] republican in UK is not the same as republican in USA [the party of Lincoln].
1. Republican is not a synonym for conservative.
a. The Republican party is now the big tent party [RHINO, Log Cabin Republicans, etc].
b. Once the Democrats kicked out the blue dog democrats they became more lockstep.
Past mistakes don't justify future error in judgement. As you know, associate justices nominated by conservative republicans have disappointed many in their rulings and the same for liberal democrats [although to a lesser degree]
2. Caveat I was a liberal democrat until a couple years after the LORD regenerated my soul. Being a liberal or conservative politically is not crucial.
a. Being conservative when reading scripture [exegesis] as opposed to self-absorbed [eisegesis literally means "to lead into," which means the interpreter injects his own ideas into the text]
3. Associate Justice Samuel Alito is wise enough to recognize that choice requires a direct object to be meaningful. He has a vast knowledge of legal decisions and precedents It is ludicrous to state Samuel Alito ... does not remember when Republicans were pro-choice.
a. The crux is neither democrat nor republican. The pro-induced abortion-for-any-reason supporting folks tried to take control of the word 'choice' long ago.
b. It is a canard to post that a sitting associate justice is focused on a political viewpoint. Even Associate Justice Ginsburg [who was pro-abortion] recognized that Roe v Wade was a horribly flawed ruling and commented on it well before her death.
As a Republican voter since 1990, I am pro-choice on many topics like most of the Republicans and few of the democrats I personally know
Choice is irrelevant unless a direct object is linked to it. As in choice of ....
1. During the Civil War era many republicans were pro-choice on slavery while most democrats were staunch slavery supporters from New Your through Florida.
2. Being a Roman Catholic is oftentimes a social statement instead of being somebody who places full trust in God and HIS Word. I know many Roman Catholics who subject their will to God's when push comes to shove.
3. Roman Catholics who support induced abortion as a right and any other right which indicates they trust their own judgment over a relationship with God [not a choice implying yes and no are valid] will be judged by God as I never knew you .... since they place their will above their desire to have a personal relationship with God.
4. Induced abortion was prevalent during Biblical times practices by Romans, Greeks, and many of the provinces. The Biblical language never included support for the practice. God is primarily interested in relationship and HE is a jealous God
5. Induced abortion is a choice made by somebody for their own reasons. The Federal government should not be dictating a right to abortion [Roe v Wade overrode over 30 state constitutions] Individual states should make the determination per the US Constitution which specifies that the states are authorized to develop law, rules, etc on areas not specified to the Federal government.

Stephen, the article is talking about the GOP, not UK Republicans.
Also, you should check out which justices were in the majority in the Roe v Wade decision. Half of them were/were appointed by republicans.

As I was trying to make clear this is not a Republican nor Democrat issue SGT (Join to see) I was conceived in London and raised by British Parents [liberal] and am well steeped in British tradition and knowledge of the USA history.
