Great video, CW5 Jack Cardwell! Here’s my uncle, Army Corporal George Brooks Curlee at the remains of the Ludendorff Bridge (holding a puppy) not long after it collapsed on 17MAR45. He was in the 70th Infantry Division (Trailblazers). I think he was in the 270th Engineer Combat Battalion, but I merely speculate. He was not involved in the fighting for and capture of the bridge.
Before this photo he had been wounded and was MIA for approximately two weeks. He was later promoted to sergeant.

I saw, that is neat...maybe you could do an eVetRecs submission to NPRC, then sign and fax it in, and ask for his personnel and maybe also his med/dental files, we've done that a good deal with our family...doubtless, his stuff was probably affected by the 1973 fire before NPRC digitized everything and moved into their new bldg, just a thought, NPRC could also likely query Army to see if they've got more stuff, they did that for us also for the stuff for my wife's Dad, when we got VA to approve a combat "V" for his Bronze Star, the Bronze had been left off the headstone, we had me get that fixed, then got the "V" allowed by VA, through NPRC asking Army for the Bronze Star award listing heroic svc...as I'd said, just a thought, I also did that to get my Dad's stuff (Navy), my uncle's stuff (Army, the one who was one of Gen Eisenhower's radio operators), and also my Mom's Dad's stuff (USMC) as well...you'd probably answer a good many questions by getting it, that's all I'm saying, of course, just a thought, as I'd said, obv....

Many thanks, Capt Daniel Goodman. I think my first cousin (his son) has a fairly complete record of service. We’ve simply never really given ourselves the opportunity to go over it in detail together. We will one day!

I read a paperback version of this till it basically fell apart...it's one of the very best WW2 histories ever written, by Cong Ken Hechler, who'd been an historian as well as in combat in WW2...trust me, if you haven't read this, you really owe it to yourself to do so, one and all, honest, enjoy....
