An outstanding article by CSAF Gen Brown and USMC Commandant Gen Berger. Establishing a universal joint set of readiness metrics is key to knowing where we are with readiness. The dissolution of JFCOM probably harmed joint readiness by reducing the focus on large Joint exercises. USAF uses SORTS to define unit readiness by manpower fill rates, weapon system readiness for operational missions, and training levels within the unit. I would suggest we begin with a review of JMETS with an eye toward near-peer high end warfare, and then mandate a common set of readiness metrics based on JMETLs.
