Rancho Tehama gunman who killed 4 was out on bail

"The gunman's sister, Sheridan Orr, said her brother had struggled with mental illness throughout his life and at times had a violent temper.

She said Neal had "no business" owning firearms."

I think this is the more important question: where did he get those guns? It sure as hell wasn't northern California.

I have to wonder with all of the laws how he was able to arm himself. Hope they run this to ground and fix it quick.

No weapons because we only protect banks, politicians, airports with fire arms, not children.

News reports indicate that the shooter built his own semiautomatic rifles, and there was a court order taking away his access to guns, and that he wouldn't answer the door when the Sheriff's Deputies went to his house.

Thus: the court order forbidding the shooters access to and possession of guns was not enforced.
The shooter did not comply with the court order.

Should it be legal for any American, without a background check or registration, to make his own unregistered semiautomatic weapons? There are companies today who legally sell, via mail order, your own CNC machine, with plans, so you can make your own lower receiver from a block of aluminum.

If one can mill and construct your own semiautomatic weapon, what capability exists, or should exist, for legitimate U.S. law enforcement to prevent you from making your own automatic, unregistered, unserial-numbered weapon? The honor system?
