Europe, Canada and the US air going green and getting rid of coal-fired power plants and the cost to be electricity is going up. something to mention the range is really restricted when it's cold outside because you have to heat the passengers as well as the battery and that affects range. Sure, come on, some of these cars are faster than the gasoline counterparts, but can they drive 500 miles without stopping for an electric charge?

That’s IF You Can Find A Charging Station, And Are Ready To Wait Hours For It To Charge.
Nope ! Give Me A Good Old Fashioned Gas Powered Vehicle.

SPC James Neidig I drove from Alberta on the way to Idaho. Alberta is just North of Montana and we went from Central Alberta to northern Montana in about nine hours. The next day we drove from great falls all the weather pocatello idaho. So it took us about 2 and a 1/2 tank folds a gas to get to Southern Idaho. no long wait at the charging stations.

I Drive From Southern Pennsylvania To Northern Maine And New Brunswick Canada All The Time And The Only Places I Have Seen Charging Stations Are At Some Truck Stops And A Few Service Plazas In New England And All Had Long Lines Waiting To Charge Their Cars,
I Always Smile When I Pull Right Up To The Gas Pump And Fill Up And On My Way Within Minutes.

I am thinking about a hybrid. Electric cars have a 72% higher rate of problems new from computer glitches to false readings of charge levels. Granholm’s little EV trip points out some of the problems of EVs. When she was approaching Augusta Georgia the transportation secretary of energy sent a gas powered car ahead to block a charging station for her. A young couple with a baby couldn’t get in to charge their car so they called the police. A Canadian guy went on an EV trip and got a false fully charged indicator. He got a few miles down the road and got stuck because he was out of electricity. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/electric-vehicles-consumer-reports-reliability-report/
Electric vehicles have almost 80% more problems than gas-powered ones, Consumer Reports says
Electric vehicles are experiencing the "growing pains" of new technology, one expert said.

I would not consider EV at this point but, like you, would consider a hybrid some time in the future
