Lol, I've seen one guy hold two pieces of metal so the welder could tack it together, he sure jumped when the welder struck the arc. Lol

SGT (Join to see) When I was the Chief Engineer, I would go down to the Repair Shop, where the welders worked. The 1st couple of times I didn't call ahead of time, and usually was dumbfounded by the dumba@@ things they were doing (exactly like you wrote about). When I figured they weren't going to change, and they never really got hurt, I started calling before I headed down there...

LT Brad McInnis - Chang, At the ship yard I seen a new welder sitting on a wet metal scaffolding at the side of a ship. I watch as he struck the arc and holding the side of the ship, at the strike of the ace, it zapped him on the butt, you should have seen him jump. Lol

LT Brad McInnis - Chang, how about this for management, at the yard, I was leader in the weld shop-26. The GM one day told me to get the thickest chain and weld it to the 3 new shop fans, then weld the other end of the chain to the deck, and he said, he was tied of the shop fans getting lost.
I knew that was stupid, but I did, the next day the 3 shop fans were gone, the GM asked me, "What Happened". I told him, "Sir, this is the welding shop".
