I am not sure what a "military source" is. And the Gateway Pundit...yeah. Ok. Honestly I have read that those not on shifts were in hotels, and a multitude are quarantined for covid right now as well. And that there was miscommunication between the Capitol police and the Guard ultimately.
Even if he did - they're starting to go back home today through the next week.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - before you get into my bias fact checkers be careful who you trust! Washington Post is also questionable as is the New York Times.. The Washington Post recently scrubbed part of a story it had published on Kamala Harris. Harris said running for President was like being a prisoner begging for a bit of bread and a drink of water. Then the New York Times 1619 project author, after getting roasted over the garbage now says it was a “narrative “ not history. Neither is reliable. The we have the rest of the lame stream media that won’t publish articles that are not favorable to Biden and attack those that report unfavorable Biden stories. Yeah. I'm sure he called from the golf course to make that happen. Oh, and BTW, those are police in that photo, not Soldiers. You'd think that a LTC in the Army could see the difference. Also, when you actually open up that article, it says NOTHING about Donald Trump calling the hotel and making accommodations for those Soldiers to stay in the Trump (about to be someone's else) International Hotel. Like you, all the article did was whine about Biden and try to make what happened to those troops his fault.

Considering that the Speaker of the house refused Federal Agencies help before 6 January 2021, when she had the Intel that there was a rally going to happen people need to wake up. Now she sends our Guardsmen and Women to a parking garage how nice of her. 26,000 soldiers is over kill. Yea the Capitol is a good sized building but 8,666 soldiers at a time on 3 hour shifts is absolutely insane! You could wrap the building no fewer than 2x’s. 3000 soldiers 3 shifts is all that would have been needed. Honestly had Pelosi taken the Federal assistance in the first place there would never had been a need for any troops.
Biden’s administration should have put the soldiers up in any Hotel don’t matter who owned it.
