Awesome piece. If the Plt Cmdr and Plt Sgt are not on the same sheet of music, the Plt suffers, which is unacceptable. While the Plt Cmdr has the ultimate responsibility to the Company Commander, the Plt Sgt also shares in the burden. If the Plt Cmdr fails, the Plt Sgt also failed. Instead of helping to mold an awesome officer, he let that opportunity slip threw his grasp. The greatest thing I have ever done was to help the Co Cmdr and XO, with the help and guidance of the 1st Sgt mold 3 good Lt's into awesome Plt Cmdrs, who were the envy of every SSgt in the BLT, that where able to think on their feet and accomplish the mission, while taking care of their Marines.

The new platoon leader should be the type that isn't easily led astray, and can work well with the PS, as well as the squad leaders. Everyone should be in the loop.
