Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I've been watching Documentary's on you tube about Bison. Cross timbers bison ranch is currently trying to grow 3 herds on his property. There are even science programs where small herds are given to Indian reservations

When I was stationed in North Dakota I'd pass a bison farm daily when driving too/from the base. That was the first time I'd ever seen them wandering in herds. Even confined in large fields they are impressive animals.

A notable expert says the best way to improve arid lands is by allowing flocks of animals to graze on the land. The animals drop dung and trample it into the ground which improves the soil and increases the plant diversity. It makes sense.
