I'm with you on this one. Based soley on my viewing of the video, the cop was incompetent, scared, and Got it Wrong. He should be locked up, and I am ashamed that he's not.

And unloading five slugs into a vehicle with a woman and a child is beyond reckless.

Trust. This guy should have been convicted. It's sorry remnants of racism in America that let him go free, I believe. Please do not paint me with that brush. This cop should have been convicted. Period. I'm ashamed that since I'm white, I am ascribed to this verdict. I am NOT. This cop got it wrong, this DA got it wrong, this Jury got it wrong. I'm sorry.

SN Greg Wright I agree with you. It's disgusting and "I" personally believe that the system wasn't setup to protect black people.

I would not paint you with that dirty brush! You have NEVER posted anything that caused me alarm about you being a racist scumbag.

I feel for his family, the young lady and the baby that witnessed this atrocity!

The NRA, as the author did note, has a foot in two camps as far as this killing is concerned - it supports the right to carry ... and it has a large law enforcement membership that it does not want to alienate. That, I believe, is the reason for their silence. I doubt that a black, brown, white, or yellow skin color would have anything to do with the NRA's position.

Having said that, in the words of another poster, "the cop was incompetent, scared, and got it wrong." I agree. The question then becomes whether that justifies a conviction for manslaughter. Painful though his acquittal was for the family, there is a good chance that the jury got it right. In any case, it seems to me that the hiring, training, and partner policies of the police department should come under scrutiny here.

Right is right. Wrong is wrong. It shouldn't matter if the NRA has the interest of two parties. They are the most powerful lobbyists in the country. I'm sure they will be fine. Manslaughter. Negligent homicide. Some degree of manslaughter. He should be been convicted of a crime. Letting him walk Scott free and unaccountable for his actions is a travesty. If the prosecutor can't get it right then he/she should probably be replaced too.

SSG (Join to see) - I didn't say that the NRA was right ... just expressed my belief that race had nothing to do with their position (or, to be precise, the lack thereof). IMV one can't just lay this off on the prosecutor. There was a jury in there somewhere.
