I'm probably a wee bit more conservative than you -- it was all over my social media and the sites I peruse -- idiots are going to idiot; behavior is not dictated by color

Did any of the social media and sites describe these folks as "Thugs","Gang-bangers", "illegals", "criminals", etc? Descriptions seems to vary between conservative and less conservative sites.
