Interesting, and worrisome when you add in the datum points of Russian defense forces possibly responding ghost intrusions with live ammunition.
My inner propagandist can't help but think how imagery of shots being fired and nominal third-party confirmation of the incursion by means of AIS tracking could inspire NATO hesitation during an incident.

MAJ Ken Landgren A person detected all kinds of fake position data on ships, including warships being reported into public tracking systems. Satellite imagery and known locations of the ships show that they are not where these fase positions are saying they are. fake data includes incursions into foreign territorial waters. Warships from at least 14 countries have had fake position readings reported.

They are not sure the cause or reason for the fake data. It could be misinformation, a bug or something else.
