Pentagon leaders blame State Department for chaotic Afghanistan evacuation of civilians

I didn't know that our Department of State handled the retrograde for the Department of Defense? Both Administration's handling of this withdraw, the lost of lives and equipment is an embarrassment for our generation. The Biden administration was in charge, they need to explain and history will be the judge on how much falls on Trump / Biden. As we have heard from our Raters, results matter, and for all those who served and lost peers, we are all hoping for better. I can't imagine the pain for our Gold Star families, it is painful enough just in remembrance of my peers. In due time all the facts will come out, we can all agree this was not what anyone would have planned to have happen, yet it did. The fall of Afghanistan is just a profounding sad ending to our 20 years of deployments for nation building and the removal of the threat Al Qaeda presented since 1991. I pray we can move past the pain but I think it will take significant time. The lack of accountability and seamless blame casting just leaves me sad and empty.

Unfortunately, the State Dept makes the call on all evacs, etc.. Dept. Remember the Ambassador is the highest-ranking person in that country
