But, having to paint the big green gecko on the flight deck would probably be disconcerting for the pilots landing! Capt Dwayne Conyers

What I did not understand in the write up, was the two carrier deal includes the new USS Enterprise CVN-80. The keel work and other steel work has already begun on her, so that contract has already been let. LCDR (Join to see) what are they planing to do, nullify the existing Enterprise contract and re-write the Enterprise contract to include the yet to be determined 2nd Carrier?

If you tell a used car salesman, after you have agreed to one car and want another, they will gladly write a new contract to sell 2 cars for no more work... CWO3 Dennis M. LCDR (Join to see)

Okay, but what about the ships needed to support and defend it? What about the manning required? That's like someone saying they can save when they buy 2 Mercedes Benz G wagons, while their house is in foreclosure, their bank accounts are drained, and they are getting fired next week...

CWO3 Dennis M. - Well, you know they are going to throw another damn uniform change in there at some point, that will cost $400 Million to "studY" like the AF just did....

I agree with you. I was under the impression that when the Navy procures a ship, they have to have all the logistics, support, etc., too (unlike the Army, where we tend to figure that out later). Maybe that was a wrong assumption on my part though. Also, if two separate contractors won, that could cause a whole different set of issues.

PO3 Bob McCord - The sad thing is I have had a hand in all, and still think they are all full of crap!
