Opinion | The Marine Corps' plan to redesign the force will only end up breaking it

The Marine Corps vision was operating in smaller teams to protect ships. They wanted to eschew amphibious operations all together. That leads us to a need of amphibious operations without requisite capacity if the Marine Corps drops that mission. If they won't do those operations, do we expect army units conducting them as the Marines watch from ships?

From what I understand no military branches support the Marine Corps vision. If they don’t want to conduct amphibious operations, who will? Do we expect many soldiers to ride ships to conduct those operations?
