‘Operation Mincemeat’ True Story: Colin Firth’s Netflix Movie Depicts An Astonishing WWII Mission...

Some of you may have read the story in the Reader's Digest or seen the earlier movie The Man Who Never Was. I had no idea that operation mincemeat was about this secret mission. This movie is available on Netflix and I recommend it for anybody.

Future James Bond author Ian Fleming was involved as a naval officer working for the admiralty in this caper to fool the Germans into thinking that this 'Major Martin' was carrying secret documents to fool the Germans thinking they were going to invade Greece instead of Sicily. The cadaver was made to look like a British officer with all kinds of documentation and love letters to make it look realistic. He was dropped off by submarine and made to appear that he had drowned in a plane crash off the coast of Spain.

This was a very well-made movie dealing with lots of spies and Naval intelligence.

I'm sure this was discussed in your spook school but this was taken to a new level because more has been Declassified over the decades.
