LCpL, Sorry for the confusion... I didn't mean for people to think that Col. Burroughs had written what I wrote. RP lets you add people at the end of the post who you think would like to see what you've written. Though, I am glad that people agree with my opinion!

Throughout my career, the single most damning misconduct I observed was inappropriate behavior between the sexes. E-1 thru 0-10, no one seemed immuned. Making a personal decision that overrides obligations as a military professional immediately capitulates integrity. Unfortunately, this behavior will never cease to exist. In fact, with the advent of social media and the influx of females into the service the risks are greater. My point...you cannot teach integrity, you either have it or you don't. The sad thing to me is the vast majority of sailors and marines DO have integrity and will endure hours of "training" that could have been better spent on accomplishing the mission because of a few bad apples. Unless I'm missing something here and this has become a cultural problem...that is a different animal altogether.

I honestly do believe it has become a cultural problem, and it isn't just because of inappropriate behavior between and amongst the sexes. Hardly anyone corrects anyone else when they see a blatant infraction to regulations that are widely know. It's as simple as wearing hearing protection when required, or not looking at your cell phone when walking in uniform. If we start fixing the small things, then everything else will start falling in line... People need to know that they Can and Should correct infractions as they see them. An E-1 IS allowed to correct an O-3 as long as they do it in the correct manner. This fear of reprisal from correcting someone, or a fear of not 'seeming cool' needs to stop! We need to hold everyone up to the standards that we have signed contracts to abide by. That is the only way we will fix a problem like this.

CMSgt (Join to see) I agree one of the unfortunate outcomes of some of our fellow servicemembers acting like A-Holes is going to be a lot of GMT. If I could make a recommendation to anyone that is in a leadership position in those training is too elicit the assistance of these young people to help root out these few bad apples. At least I hope it is a few. They are a lot more capable then us old farts at working through the system. Until a few days ago I did not know you could even post nude photos on FB. These days my kids are using Snap Chat I wonder how much of this crap happens in a media like that? Scary world out there but we have to find a way to stop abuse like this.
