My question Keith is why do they have or need a special clinic? Unless they gained some new physical anomalies on their journey to becoming the other sex?? Shouldn't the hospitals or clinics be able to take care of them? They are male or female after all! This money could be spent on much better and needed other programs.

I have considered your question now for a few days and wanted to give you a good answer so here it goes. You wouldn't go to a back surgeon when you need work done on your wrist would you? I mean he will know the basics but you would rather someone who knows the most about your wrist. A hospital and a general clinic will not help someone who is transgender it just does not work that way. This clinic is, yes, to help them physically but also mentally. It is impossible to describe that feeling to anyone it does not make you unable to perform at work like so many people want to believe they just feel different. Just because it is something you don't understand does not mean it is not valuable to someone who really needs it. It is rude and ignorant to act like someone who is transgender is just someone looking for attention or does not deserve the ability to be who they want. You say "Much better and needed other programs" All I ask you is who decides what is "Better and needed" because I know many people think this program is great and have wished for it for years. Being transgender does not affect a persons work ability and frankly you probably wouldn't know unless they told you.

SSG (Join to see) - In practice, when dealing with gay, lesbian, transgender etc patients - sometimes general practitioners are not adequately trained to exhibit cultural sensitivities required to put these patients at ease - and sometimes other patients may seek to intimidate, embarrass, or exclude patients they do not understand. So, to avoid unfortunate interpersonal interactions and make it more comfortable for patients to seek care - whether in the trans context - or for other medical needs - we add special clinics and/or provide specially trained clinicians in extended hours to meet community needs. Warmest Regards, Sandy
There are only two sets, male and female and the military should not be provided bigger boobs, modifications of body parts, or special treatment. Providing and covering costs for treatment of service related physical, or mental issues I understand, but changing, or modifying body parts because you've decided you don't fit the body you were born with shouldn't be cost covered by the military/VA, it wasn't caused due to military service.
