Good morning my Brothers and Sisters from the now gradually clearing of a vicious Storm that hit the shores of Southwest Florida from Venice, FL down to Marco Island, FL! When I say vicious, that is exactly what I mean! Starting about 0730 hours, there were Tornado warnings and bang, there wasn't just one, but many! One touched down less than a half mile from my FL Condo and did huge damage to a mobile home park in the area... I just saw a brief report from our Golf Course management Office that we had damage to several homes near the 3rd, 4th and 5th holes of the course and that is not far from me as our condo is on the 7th fairway, not that far from where the damage was done... We got tons of rain and wind, but no Tornado where we are... Everything is now quieting down, so I am going to drive around shortly to see what was damaged...
Now then, let me say that the JWST had a rather quiet and productive time over the last 12-15 Earth hours! The JWST is nearing the 90% trip completion, but there is still some 147,950 miles to go to reach the LaGrange L2 Point!!! In contrast, it is now some 806,788 miles from Earth at this point today! The scientists and engineers are continuing their work on the alignment of the 18 primary mirror segments... Each segment's calibration/alignment occurs each day, moving about 1 millimeter per day...
The temperature variations on the Sunshield's Hot Side and the Cold Side are well within the parameters originally set, so that the JWST should operate at the ideal temperature variations established in its design phase... The JWST is now within 7-days of reaching its planned LaGrange L2 Point and so far everything has gone immensely well!
More to follow in the coming days...
Wishing you all a fantastic Sunday,
Kerry
