This is a question for those who may or may not be biblically and spiritually inclined. A worse case bases is we just might be seeing history repeating itself yet again. At its best, we might be seeing a reestablishment of the greatness of a God fearing society. But maybe I need to "unpack" my thought even more before some of you will even take a bite at this question.
As I read Nehemiah for the third or fifth time, a three part theme came to mind. Within the context of Israel, Nehemiah is a story of "Repair" the Jerusalem's destroyed city walls, "Rebuild" Jewish society as well as the walls, and then "Reinforce" both the society and the walls. The wall was completed within 52 days and Israeli society was rebuilt in 52 months (a little over four years). Woven through the repair and rebuild was the reinforce of the rule of law (God's), the values, and practices that made Israel a great nation. And this was accomplished in the face of much opposition from without and from within.
Why I see elements of the story of Nehemiah within Donald Trump? First I want to challenge all of you here at RP to read this short book. It is short and has a few parts that make for a slow slog in reading (genealogical lists are that way) but pay close attention because the links to DJT and other lessons are buried in those muddy reads. Ask yourself critical thinking questions like...what is the significance and importance of the city's wall?
My second challenge is for you to study the life of Donald Trump. Love him or hate him, "The Donald" is a unique and fascinating character. Once you have completed your short study, I look forward to you comments, observations, and questions. So again I ask, "Could Donald J. Trump be a modern day be a modern day Nehemiah?
