This will be a good thing as long as the new version is better than the old version.
5” guns have been in the Navy since WWII, I compare them to the M-2 .50 Cal in Army use because they have both been around for so long. However, the Navy has had numerous upgrades over time that has led us to the current version of the Mk 45.
Sadly the M-2, while still very functional has not been improved much over the years.

Excellent point. Along with the 1911, the M-2, was one of the most perfect fighting systems ever made.
