This sounds pretty fishy to me.

A friend of mine who won the defense distinguished Service metal from the head of the DIA in 1995 for looking for missing American pilots and pows in the late 80s and early 90s just told me on the phone that the Russians never really had a good pow recovery plan like we did. It is very possible that this man was in the tribal areas of Pakistan an area that nobody really has control of even the pakistanis! I understand your doubt. After speaking to my retired full bird colonel friend active-duty who retired in 1996, it is very possible that this man May indeed be one of the two pilots mentioned in the story. Hopefully, we will find out more later once or if he's ever recovered.

LTC (Join to see) - A few years or even a decade would seem plausible 30 years not so much

I feel sorry for the daughter! If she's not messed up, she will be without counseling and she will have anger issues with why didn't her dad come back sooner? I wonder how her Mom feels. This will be a good movie if they ever make one.

LTC (Join to see) - I agree. The daughter will need counseling. The Mom will need counseling on how to help her daughter. The father will need counseling as well.

I have questions.
Where did the jet go ? If shot down then where is the crash site ? Or did he land it for some other countries engineers to get a look at ?
Was he held captive all of those years ?
If he wasn't held captive then I ask what type of injuries did he incur during the shoot down ? Where there head injuries ?
If there are no head injuries and he was just living there what were the circumstances of his accommodations ? As in did he work there in Afghanistan for someone ? Or did he start a business?
Will have to wait to see how this evolves.
