PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Teacher pay is only part (a big part) of the problem. Another problem is funding the classrooms. I can't tell you how much I spend to keep my classroom going in any given school year. The state only gives us $400.00 per year for our classroom and the school takes $200.00 of that to pay for the copy machines and paper. Now, it doesn't affect me as much as some because I have no mortgage or car payments so I can afford it, however, I shouldn't have to shell out money from my pocket to educate my students. That's the state and district's responsibility. Just last week I bought over $300.00 worth of supplies and shower boards (to use as whiteboards) for my classroom for the upcoming spring semester. I can guarantee you that won't be all. If I didn't, I would have to make do with what I don't have. One teachers' opinion for what it is worth.
