I had a teacher in my Spanish class at Cal State University Fullerton who was a doctor jasso served in United States Air Force in the Korean War and he had a PhD he was joking that the Battle of Puebla is the only battle the Mexicans ever won. It's funny how it really hasn't even discussed much in Mexico that is only drunk Chicanos in the United States that celebrated it just basically a beer drinking Fest a reason to be stupid. Just think about it small French Foreign Legion or small Legion in the middle of Mexico so far away from reinforcements. Will today on the Cinco de Mayo I don't give a s*** about Mexicans I went to my dermatology appointment to get some of my moles and other skin ailments burned off with liquid nitrogen at the University of Alberta my face looks like I got into a fight with the ugly guy from The Good the Bad the Ugly. My dad died of skin cancer since he got melanoma. I had basal cell carcinoma cut out from me in 2006 when I came back from Iraq and the Loma Linda VA Clinic took care of it cutting out some skin by my jawline. So I can give a damn about stupid drunk Mexicans getting drunk and stupid over a battle that is only popular because Corona and Dos Equis want to make money off of it

That joking on victory is what it is - for there were battles the Mexicans did win... one such battle is far more famous than Puebla - 30APR 1863 was the battle of Camerone in which the company of Foreign Legionaries fought to the end . The French still celebrate it each year. the battle of Puebla was a much larger fight - as the French moved inland for their beachhead with 6,000 troops and were stopped by some 2,000 Mexicans at Puebla with heavy losses in 1862.

LTC Eric Udouj - thank you for correcting me sir. I just have too many drunks in my family and I think it's blown way out of proportion by Chicanos since the 1960s I don't know why they don't celebrate the other one?

Let us not forget our support of Juarez as well. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

The role of Sheridan and Sherman both are often over looked -- but were critical in getting the French to depart Mexico.

Two from Ohio! There were a lot of Northern generals from Ohio and a few Presidents.
