That is very sad news that Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, the former Mexican prison inmate, spent 214 days in custody after accidentally crossing the border into Mexico with several legal firearms in his possession Capt Seid Waddell. I am glad to learn that only days after Tahmooressi finally made it back home in November of 2014, billionaire candidate Donald Trump decided to bless the beleaguered Marine with a $25,000 check.

If a truck driver enters California without the proper permits he/she is given a citation turned around and sent back across the border to obtain the proper permits you have all heard it before, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

I just find it interesting to see other countries enforce their borders. Interesting concept.

Just a tad Sgt Kelli Mays, just a tad. And could it be because he knew he was running for office? That alone doesn't get my vote!

SFC William Farrell, this happened long before he started running for president, and he also did not make a big show of it at the time; this the first I heard of it.

Capt Seid Waddell - You are correct Captain, I had my dates wrong. I also heard he met with the mother of a motorcyclist killed by an illegal alien, something the mother has said no other candidate has ever done. You do have to give him some credit.

Its nice to see Trump step up to the plate to help out a veteran; hell I wish someone had sent me 25K when I screwed up on active duty! While I am glad he is home and getting the help he needs for his PTSD, there is a lot more to this story than he accidentally crossed the border. In fact he lied about having ever been to Mexico to Mexican authorities at the border when he had previously walked across the border earlier in the day leaving his firearms in the truck in San Ysidro. Then he accidentally crosses back into Mexico later in the day with his truck.

All that being said and done, considering how we treat the illegal Mexicans who are in this country, Mexico could have responded in kind and released him much, much earlier.
