Sgt Wayne Wood This is not as uncommon as it may seem. Many of the computers used by Thai Government Agencies still run Windows XP. It is a running joke that if you get an e-mail from Immigration, for example, do not open it until you have run it through 3 different anti-virius programs.

XP was awesome! It went downhill after that. Seven and Ten are nice. Vista and Eight were just horrible. The only problem with XP now is that Windows no longer supports it.

Windows XP is a very stable operating system, far better than what followed, especially Vista. I think it is a mistake for Microsoft to discontinue supporting it.

Sgt Wayne Wood - Will Linux run windows-based programs? Or do you still need to add an emulator?

I dare say there are few Micro$lop programs that don't have linux equivalents just as good if not better.

Sgt Wayne Wood - Hey, I was only 8 years old at the time and did not know any better. I did not realize how bad it was until I got to play around with an Amiga 500 at my cousin's house in Germany. It did one thing for me though. It started my love of computers that has continued to this day. After many years of playing around with Windows, I discovered Linux in 1999, and was hooked.
SSG Diane R. In order to run MS programs on Linux, you still need to install and emulator. I use WINE paired with Play-On-Linux when I play some retro games on my Linux box. Windows 9x and XP games run better on Linux than Windows 10. Play-On-Linux will work with more than just games. You can use it to configure other Windows programs to work on Linux. I use LibreOffice all the time. Even on my Windows machine that I use for gaming.
