Nebraska does not have vouchers. What we have is opt out. You can opt out of a district or school you live near for another school. You can opt out for a trade type school, where you learn just enough of the basics to graduate but also work on a trade of some type. The last option is homeschool, this is expensive but you can get scholarships. It also requires a commitment from parents and students. The parochial school option also offers scholarships for people who cannot afford it. Although vouchers work, in some areas, it is not for everyone.

Good read. I will agree and disagree with multiple aspects of the article. It was eye opening to read how the voucher and choice concept was to help improve education options for low income areas and minorities only to watch typical politics shift the concept to support private schools in already established better communities. Public schools are failing due to overcrowding, lack of resources, corruption in the education system and this insistence by politicians that education is a privilege and not a right.
