If they deemed there to be a problem, then they took the appropriate action. My son was denied a jb because of the length of his hair. Is that fair? No!

For once, Stan, I agree with you.

Especially since this is a local ordnance. That SPECIFIC community has decided what is right FOR THEM.

That is a very large part of what the essence of rebuplicanism (the political philosophy in creating a republic, not the political party platform) is. We do what is right for us. It doesn't matter if it is right for you, because YOU will do what is right for YOU.

Yes, there *is* such a thing as unprofessional hair. No, it is not unprofessional just because it is "different." In general, I try to defer to people with similar hairstyles for what is "unkempt" and what is just "different." And if there is any doubt, I will hedge toward making allowances.

SFC Casey O'Mally - See, we don't always disagree.

BTW, my son was denied a job in home construction because he wears his hair long. And, he has about 25 years experience in that type of work.
Or maybe it really was because of the color of his skin and they used the hair as an excuse.
Or, hell, maybe the boss was just having a bad day.

Oh, my son went to work for a competitor 2 days later.
