Here is something many of you may not know about. DOD is now issuing active and retired Army Military Police and Air Force Security Forces a Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act ID Card that will allow you to carry in all 50 states. While this link is the Army's site, the Air Force has one too. Its a bit of a process and it will cost you $160 but may well be worth it to you. I question this with the Fraternal Order of Police of which I am a member years ago and they said they didnt have a definitive answer on the question of retired Military Police. Now they do! Go for it!

Hard to tell, but is this just for security forces? Or does this actually apply to any active Army SM? I would be intrigued and would definitely spend the money if possible!

MAJ (Join to see) Unfortunately it is only for Military Police and Security Forces. Would be nice if it was for active. Get your Florida license if you dont have it already; its good in a lot of states.

I have my KY license and it is recognized in a lot of places. Hell, when I get out, I may have to become a volunteer Sheriff's Deputy, or Police officer. Thanks for the info SFC William Farrell

SGT Damaso V Santana Hi Damaso, unfortunately it is only for active and retirees. I guess its sort of like a civilian police officer who retires. He gets to carry but if he resigns after he did two, four, six or whatever he doesn't get to carry.
