It's been called the Great Deplatforming. In the hours and days after the U.S. Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube kicked off then-President Donald Trump as well as many involved in planning the attack.
Since then, far-right groups that had used the big tech platforms to spread lies about the 2020 U.S. presidential election, stoke conspiracy theories and call for violence have been scrambling to find new homes on the internet.

Social media rules be damned. These are the rules that matter with words and deeds. Courts have to decide. They have already deemed some very objectionable actions as free speech, such as Westboro Baptist. https://www.freedomforuminstitute.org/about/faq/which-types-of-speech-are-not-protected-by-the-first-amendment/

Well they definitely aren't silenced though - they still have their ways to get their misinformation out through things like FoxNews, OANN, Breitbart - and then there's CloutHub and whatever other weird platforms they have started. What happened to GETTR? Is that still a thing? Lol.
